Driven by the national innovation strategy and the engagement for regional social and economic development, ZJUT is rooted its research in the region, with 10 national research centers and 55 provincial and ministerial level research platforms, won 24 national research of excellence awards. Research funding from government and industry is amounted to USD 162 million in 2021.167 programs and USD 15 million RMB were funded by Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), which is ranked 50th in mainland China in 2021. Cited papers published in (8) disciplines of Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, Environment / Ecology, Biology & Biochemistry, Computer Science, Agricultural Sciences, and Pharmacology & Toxicology are within top 1% of the whole world according to Essential Science Indicators(ESI). ZJUT is in the 311th position among ESI engineering schools rankings in the world, and 54th in mainland China.
