College of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, formerly known as the Department of light industry engineering, was founded in 1981. It is the first college of bioengineering discipline and specialty in Zhejiang Province and earlier in China. The college has experienced the Department of light industry engineering and the school of biological and environmental engineering, and established the school of biological engineering in September 2015. Now it has two undergraduate majors of bioengineering and biotechnology, one master's degree of bioengineering, three second-level master's degree of Biochemistry, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, and a doctor's degree of biochemistry. A complete talent training system of undergraduate, master's and doctor's degree has been formed.
At present, the college has 118 faculty members, including 2 academicians of Chinese Academy of engineering, 50 professors, more than 20 visiting professors from overseas well-known universities, and 90% and 50% full-time teachers with doctoral degree, overseas study and work experience, respectively. At present, there are more than 500 undergraduates and more than 600 postgraduates. The college has trained more than 4000 graduates. A large number of graduates have held important management and technical positions in Institutions of higher learning, scientific research institutes, enterprises and institutions at home and abroad, played a key role and made positive contributions to economic and social development.
The college is the leading college of Yangtze River Delta green pharmaceutical collaborative innovation center and national chemical API synthesis engineering technology research center of the first 2011 plan of our university, and the main College of the cultivation base of National Key Laboratory of green chemical synthesis technology. It has established the national 2011 plan Yangtze River Delta green pharmaceutical Collaborative Innovation Center biological technology Pharmaceutical sub center, the National Chemical API synthesis Engineering Technology Research Center biological pharmaceutical sub center, the National Key Laboratory of green chemical synthesis technology cultivation base biological synthesis technology laboratory, the Ministry of biological transformation and biological purification Engineering Research Center, the biological organic synthesis technology research Zhejiang Province A number of national, provincial and ministerial teaching and research platforms, such as Key Laboratory of Zhejiang province, Key Laboratory of pharmaceutical chemical biocatalysis in petroleum and chemical industry, national and local joint Engineering Research Center for chiral biological manufacturing, National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for renewable resource utilization and processing, Zhejiang experimental teaching demonstration center for biological foundation, etc. The college has established National university Huang Danian teacher team and the first batch of key scientific and technological innovation teams of microbial fermentation and biocatalysis in Zhejiang Province, as well as the innovation team of the Ministry of education of biological purification and biotransformation and the main members of the innovation team of three drugs in Zhejiang Province.
The first level discipline of bioengineering has been listed in the first class discipline construction plan (Class A) and key university construction plan of Zhejiang Province. Bioengineering is a national first-class undergraduate program and a national specialty and a superior specialty in Zhejiang Province. In 2017, it passed the engineering education certification organized by China Engineering Education Professional Certification Association. Biotechnology is a national first-class undergraduate program and a new specialty in Zhejiang Province. Biochemistry and Bioengineering Equipment are national first-class undergraduate course.Microbiology and Bioengineering Equipment are national excellent courses and national excellent resource sharing courses. Biological clock and health are national excellent video open courses. Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetic engineering technology and Bioengineering Equipment are excellent courses in Zhejiang Province. Bioengineering Equipment and Enzyme engineering are first-class undergraduate course in Zhejiang Province.The students won the Gold medal in the China Internet plus College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, Challenge Cup Business Plan Competition for Chinese College students and International Genetically Engineered Machine competition.
In recent years, the college has undertaken nearly hundreds of national, provincial and ministerial level projects, such as the national key research and development program, the national major basic research plan (973 Plan), the national high tech development plan (863 plan), the national major science and technology projects, the national science and technology support plan, the National Natural Science Fund, the key projects of Zhejiang Natural Science Fund, the outstanding youth fund and the major science and technology projects of Zhejiang Province. At the same time, it has undertaken major industrialization projects commissioned and jointly developed by enterprises, built more than 30 industrial production devices and production lines, and won 2 second prizes of national technological invention, 1 second prize of national science and technology progress, 3 excellent prize of Chinese patent, and provincial and ministerial science and technology There are 9 first prizes of technology and 3 second prizes of science and technology at provincial and ministerial level. 2 excellent prize of patent of Zhejiang Province.
The college has carried out extensive foreign exchange and cooperation, and has established comprehensive cooperative relations with many overseas colleges and universities such as the United States, Germany, Japan, Canada, Australia, Belgium, etc.
