The development of Zhejiang University of Technology weOn the afternoon of September 15th, Myron Scholes, Stanford professor and 1997 Nobel Prize winner in economics, visited our university for the 60th anniversary celebration of Peak academic BBS and made a report named Global Financial Development. President Zhang Libin presided over this meeting. Vice president Gang Xiao and related heads of functional departments took part in the meeting.
In the report, Myron Scholes firstly from a financial view combined the real economy, analyzed the opportunities brought by the development of science and technology, and also emphasized the essential role of new energy in future economic development. Later he expressed his optimistic attitudes towards the current economy of China and all over the world. He analyzed the present situation of America and Europe and also stated his opinions for the future of the global economy combining with the present situation in China.
At the end of the report, Myron Scholes interacted with students and answered questions such as “China has no pricing-set power of global bulky commercial trade” and “the potential of the RMB to be an international currency.” At the same time, he gave some suggestions to the students and teachers based on cooperation issues related to academic studies.
